The baby with the extreme torticollis, who had so little improvement after regular therapy for more than a year, spent two months with Nancy, and his issues resolved so that he was almost ready to walk. Several weeks later, a two month-old baby boy arrived with one of the worst cases of plagiocephaly I had seen. I asked Nancy to take over the case. Within six months of her treatment and wearing a molding helmet, his torticollis and plagiocephaly resolved.
Even more satisfying was the fact that his mother reported how happy he was during the sessions. She said that he lighted up when he worked with Nancy. The funny thing about her work was that the mothers reported that it did not look like she was doing very much. She was so gentle and calm; it looked more like she was just playing with them.
All these years later, the standard physical therapy treatment for torticollis has still not changed and continues to involve stretching the baby’s neck, an innately uncomfortable procedure. Nancy Neiditz, through her training at NYU, and with Feldenkrais™ and the Anat Baniel Method™, has created a treatment program that is unique, gentle, and effective and allows the parents the ability to do most of the work at home.
