A Fresh Approach in the Treatment of Torticollis
One-day course - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

This course is designed for Physical Therapists and Assistants and Occupational Therapists and Assistants.

SUMMARY: Have you found that treating a baby with Torticollis takes many months or does not fully resolve with "tummy time" and painful stretching? Join Nancy Neiditz, PT, an Anat Baniel Method™ SM and Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner, for new techniques to add to your repertoire of Torticollis treatment. Nancy, who has treated hundreds of babies with Torticollis, has created a method of working with this condition that encompasses her ballet and modern dance training, Feldenkrais®, and The Anat Baniel Method™ for Children. Her no-stretching and no-tummy-time techniques gently address this difficult posture with positioning, eye-hand coordination, feeding techniques and gentle movements. Rather than aiming at the musculoskeletal system of the body, Nancy incorporates the neuromuscular component with a strong emphasis on "brain plasticity."

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, participants shall be able to:
1.     Learn to work clearly, painlessly and efficiently on handling, manipulating and positioning

2.     Learn how to build a rapport with the infant and caregiver that avoids fear, crying and discomfort

3.     Hear the etiology and anatomy of Torticollis

4.     Learn how to avoid positions and carriers that make the condition worse

5.     Receive a home exercise/activity sheet that teaches parents how to carry over while the baby is nursing, playing or sleeping
